What is the name of your state? Texas
My mother who was 84 had open By-pass surgery with a valve replacement. During the coarse of the operation the Anesthesiaologist misplaced a cathiter in her heart which punchured a blood vessel in her right lung. The doctor who explained it to the family said that the heart surgery was successful and that they were starting to close up when this happened. He said that her right lung had filled with blood and that she was unable to breath with just her left lung so we were told that she would not recover. Is this wrongful death or mal practice?

Im not an attorney

or such, but I have had a quadruple by-pass and valve replacement, and about 11 angioplasties, and just last week had vascular by-pass.
I am so sorry this happened to your Mother, and just wanted to say that.
All the surgeries Ive had have terrified my family, just to say though it would seem to me that this might be MP.. but not sure, dogwood

Obviously, this was not supposed to happen. Consult with a medmal attorney in your area and discuss your concerns. An anesthesist will have to review the records and state as an expert whether or not the injury was a direct result of professional negligence. If an attorney is interested in the claim, he or she may take the case on a contingency basis and have the expert review the records.
Best wishes,
EC
