What is the name of your state? Maryland

(helping her directly now- car insurance, gas money, etc..). I know for the most part child support is based on income but my current wife has lost her job and we have two children of our own, do the courts take that into consideration? I am just wondering how they go about that. My ex is currently working, she was not working when the orignal order was drawn up. She has been used to getting a lump sum now for quite a while and I want to make other support arrangements for my minor daughter if the amount is cut drastically.

Don't expect your support to drop drastically. It will be recalculated based on one child rather than two, and that doesn't dramatically change the amount. Go to your state government website and search for information regarding the child support guidelines, or the child support worksheet. They will tell you whether or not you will get a credit for your subsequent children.
