i love going to school, but i have a problem getting there

i have always looked up to my mother because she was a very respectable perso, but within this last year many things have happened and she has become very selfish. she no longer puts her kids before herself, which is fine with me except that some things i cant legally do on my own: like get my liscense, a job, or move out. i am very sure that if i were allowed to do these thing on my own i would be very successfull. my problem is that i am the youngest of my siblings and they have moved out so my mother is trying to hold onto me, but she doesn't want to deal with the responsibilities that go with it.she wants to command me to do things, but doesnt give me the means to do them. i have a hard time getting to school on time and my mom blames me even though i wait for her to get ready every morning. if im late or she doesnt feel like taking me to school she will just leave me home, and i love going to school. my grades are being affected by my accessive absences-even though i'm holding a 3.0 the school cant pass me unless i've fullfilled the time requirements. i want to get emancipated so that i can take care of myself. do i fullfill the requirements?

I haven't read anything in your post that would qualify you to become emancipated.

In order to be emancipated
You must be at least 16 years of age
Have a full time job
Be able to support yourself 100%
Pay the rent for apartment, without any help from anyone
Pay for food, clothes, whatever esle you want
Pay for car and medical insurance
Needs both parents concent
Need to provide a good reason as to why the court should grant your request

Where's your dad?
Do you have a friend near by that could take you?
Are you able to take the bus?
How far do your sibling live away, could one of them take you?
Have you talked to the school consouler about this, perhaps they could help you out with finding someone that can get you to school.

The reality is that emancipation is not likely. And even if you DID get emancipated, you would have an even greater demand on your time as you would also have to work to support yourself.

When I was your age my parents didn't take me to school either - but I still made it. I had to take the bus, walk, or ride a bike come rain or sun. Unless you live way out in the country, you are not going to be so far from your school that you cannot get there. And if you are THAT far out, I can virtually guarantee that a bus stops within a mile or two of your home.

Now, you say, "she no longer puts her kids before herself" ... what does that mean? And who told you that parents have to shoot themselves for the sake of their kids? Yes, our kids should be put ahead of much else in our lives, but this does not mean that we drop everything to coddle them. You are almost an adult (legally) and this means that you need to start taking responsibility for yourself and your actions. This means you need to find a way to get to school. In fact, your failure to get to school COULD result in criminal charges against you.

Maybe your mom IS neglecting you - I don't know. But I do know that virtually no minor obtains emancipation.
