Hi! My name is Dorothy and I'm unhappy in marriage. My husband beats me and our children. I really want to divorce him, however, I don't know how. He threatens that the children will stay with him. I'm very afraid of them, so I can’t leave. I need state protection. Tell me, how to file for divorce in Georgia in order to deprive him of the right to see his children? Help!

If your name is Dorothy why is your username John25Brown?

In any case, contact some domestic violence shelters in your area. They can help you form an exit strategy.

You want to deprive him of his children? You aren't going to keep him from his children unless there is a lot of documentation that backs up your accusations of him. Has he been convicted of DV?

Well, my dear John, I believe that as a battered person, you need to develop an escape place.

Look up "domestic violence resources Georgia".

Iwaseekamouse, are you the member formally known as Eekamouse? If so, are you having problems logging into your original account?

This is my secret mail. Privacy from my husband. I'm so afraid to turn services because he will take my children from me. He constantly threatens us with reprisal. We're mentally and physically exhausted. I would like to file for a divorce online, as he carefully monitors where I'm going. And I just can't go to court or find a lawyer. Tell me, maybe you know how to file for divorce in Georgia on the Internet? I'll be very grateful.

He does not have the power to take your children away from you. That is a weapon that abusers commonly use to control their victims. Just because he says he will do so doesn't mean he actually can - he's using that threat to control you. If you leave with the children and go to a shelter, he's not going to know where you are - how can he take them then?
