What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? I work for a floural company in Arlington Texas. about 4 weeks ago while at work a thorn stuck me in my left thumb causing cellulitis and lots of swelling in my left hand. I'm now on workmen's comp and have been in the hospital getting antibotic iv for 1 week and now I am at home with a home IV picc line. I am getting this IV medicine shipped to me 2 times a week. I also have a nurse every Friday take a blood sample and change my dressing. My employer wants me to come back on a light duty assignment which I don't mind doing except I"ve had 2 nurses tell me if I go back on light duty workmen's comp will not pay for the treatment (IV antibotic picc line medicine) that I have been taking twice a day 4 hours a day any longer. My Dr. clearly is for me being home but probally I could talk him in to letting me come back early. If I do come with light duty will workmen's comp not pay for future treatments? Is my employer trying to conn me into coming back to get out of payment ?

If your doctor says you may return to light duty work comp will still pay for your doc bills....
do you have diabetes? you don't have to reply to this question i just ask this because if you do you are more prone to get cellulitis also if you have had any surgeries lately, cellulitis can also be contracted by a break in the skin...

Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the skin and, sometimes, of the tissues beneath the skin. The infection usually affects outer layers of the skin first, then spreads deeper into body tissues. Cellulitis can affect any area of the body covered by skin, but it is most common on the face or lower part of the legs. Cellulitis typically begins in an area of broken skin, like a cut, scratch, blister, splinter, or bite (animal, insect, or human). The infection can occur as a complication of chicken pox (also called varicella), when bacteria invade the skin of broken chicken pox blisters. Cellulitis may also start in areas of unbroken skin, especially in persons who have diabetes or who are taking medicines that affect the immune system.

Many different types of bacteria can cause cellulitis, but the two most common types are Staphylococcus aureus and Group A Streptococcus. Other types of bacteria that can cause cellulitis include Haemophilus influenzae (in persons who have not been immunized with the Hib vaccine) and Pasteurella multocida (from a cat or dog bite).

Huh? Receiving necessary medical treatment for your injury has nothing whatsoever to do with whether you return to work. Nor do I see how these two nurses are in a position to know what the WC carrier will and will not pay for.

I suggest you call the WC claims rep who's handling your claim and get the straight scoop directly from them on your IV antibiotics and not rely on what these home health aids are telling you.

No, your employer is not trying to con you. Getting an injured employee back to work on light duty as necessary is something all empoyers try to do. This has nothing to do with continued payment of your medical bills.
