Also, fwiw, I've still not received my COBRA packet from my company. They literally gave me nothing when i was fired or since.

You should not get COBRA if you were fired, giving it to you would commit them to having laid you off or terminated you without reason.

Do not, seriously, DO NOT talk to former co workers at this company about what is going on, do not engage or argue with or call back up to management demanding where are my COBRA papers, or whatever, and "I'm filing an appeal on my unemployment you turkeys!" OR "I've got another job that's fifty times better than yours ever was!"are not things you need to tell anybody associated with this old place of employment. Detatch yourself completely from them, especially while the appeals process is going on. Because anything you tell a former co worker may go straight to management and they'll try to use it in some way against you. Believe me I have seen this happen. Try to win the appeal, get backpaid your unemployment for the short time you were unemployed, and move on, putting all this behind you.

This is ABSOLUTELY incorrect. COBRA is mandatory by Federal law unless the employee was fired for gross misconduct. Not just simple misconduct but gross misconduct. Please do not talk if you don't know what you're talking about.

Although the Feds do not define gross misconduct specifically, the general rule of thumb is that unless someone can prosecute, COBRA MUST be offered.

The company has a long time in which to provide COBRA information but if I have done the math right, today is the last day they can issue it and still be legal. Have you called them?
