What is the name of your state? CA

Hey you guys, I need some advice for my brother. He's been married for 13 years (I believe) and is in England. He's seeking a divorce from his wife while over there. She has been cheating on him and finally stated she wants a divorce, but doesn't want to leave England. He is under the impression that once he files and is granted the divorce, she will be deported back to the States. They have no children and have been separated for 18 months.

He is a contract employee working for U.S. Gov. in Defense (or that's all he's able to tell us, LOL). She doesn't really work; unless spending money counts as a job...

What Laws will these proceedings fall under; British Law or US? And what about 401K, Alimony, credit cards, etc.

Thanks SO much guys!

Ukiah

PS, everything here is going great! Daughter lives with me for this school year, we'll see about her living with Dad next year, she doesn't want to go . . .

USDeeper? wow.. I have not seen that name on here for a while..

Depending on how long they have been in the UK, British law will govern the divorce. However, they will not have jurisdiction over any assets that are in the US.
