What is the name of your state? Arizona
I know AZ is a community property state. My boyfriend has a lot of debt his ex left him, and I have great credit. If we get married, will I be held responsible for that as well? I also want to buy a house soon. If I buy it before we are married, but he makes any payment toward it afterward, then is it community property? And if so, could one of his creditors put a lien against it for collection.

No. His premarital debt will remain separate property and cannot wash over to you.

The payment isn't what would make it community property. In most of the CP states, if both spouses derive benefit from a pre-marital asset, then that asset can then be considered community property. So, you should check AZ law, ask a lawyer. If the two of you would live in this house, it may not remain as separate property even if you purchase it before you marry.

Maybe. No one can put a lien on anything without suing him first and getting a judgment. They may place the lien first - ask questions later.

Has he considered bankruputcy if he's in that deep ??
