I have tried dealing with 4 different CSE's and they all have told me they don't have the resourses to put in a Social Secutiry number.
Now... OP let me tell you my dealings with Marion County and even things I've been told.
My divorce was filed in Dec. 1999. Support was ordered the following month at court. By the time May came around for the final hearing neither I nor my ex lived in the county.. He was in Michigan and I was in Tippecanoe county (Lafayette). He was already almost 3,000 behind in support. He told the judge that it was JUST then coming out of his check but that he had no proof as he had to come to court and missed his check. She bought it!
Two months later I went to Tippecanoe County CSE to file since I hadn't received anything. They told me they would take the case however I had to give them ALL information for one and for two they still had to go through Marion County. Nothing was ever done. In August of that year ex moved back to Marion County and started working. Yet it took me a year to find out where because they 'couldn't ' find out. In the mean time, in Feb. of 2001 I moved to White County. White County refused to take the case so I still went through Marion County. In Aug. 2001 I found out where he worked and they got a withholding for 4 weeks before the ex quit his job.
In April of 2002 my oldest boy was having a problem and I got a notice to my ex to call because my son needed to know his father was still alive. The ex called and then proceeded to give my son a number to call him right back. After the call I ran the number and gave CSE the address AND phone number. (BTW.. I deal with them MOSTLY through e-mail). The following week they e-mailed me telling me they had called him and he was 'uncooperative and refused to give any useful information." I told them I wanted charges filed and wanted him arrested. They told me that was a 'lengthy process that took the goal from payment to punishment' and refused. They did however set up a court date. I have had 5 courtdates set since then and they have NEVER EVER got him served so we've never shown. They told me in April of 2002 that they were having his lisence suspended.
In Feb. of 2003 I remained living in the same town but moved to another county. My current husband had had an accident and I was receiving TANF. All of a sudden EVERYONE wanted to help me. I found out through the current county that his lisence weren't suspended. Now, This county says they can't take the case because absent parent lives where the order is and even though my ex is over $20,000 behind in support Marion County refuses to file charges because the children don't live there.
The lady from CSE in this county said they have to file charges. She told me when they go to the state meetings she has seen the Marion County reps get up more then once from a table where they had broken off in groups because the others have told them they aren't doing their jobs!! My case is not the only case that I've heard like this while dealing wih them. I gues the moral is if you want to get out of paying support move to Marion County and get the case set there. They are worthless there and unless you know ALL the information and are ready to get a lawyer and get it done yourself.. little will be done I'd bet.
