Can a Immigration officer ask a 17 year old for his documents even though he is traveling in the US in the greyhound is the 17 year old have to have documents or can he show a school ID or something that shows he goes to school?

The ICE officers can ASK anything. The question is: What can they do if he refuses to provide ID or does not have any?

Absent other factors, there may be little that the officers can do besides detain him for a short period of time while they try and ascertain his identity - and even that might be questionable. A lot depends on where the stop was made (within 100 miles of a border?), and the circumstances.
