I just had my hearing on a discrimination/harassment case against a City Official. During the hearing the City Official lied on the stand after taking the oath. My attorney introduced impeachable evidence against his testimony. By the way his testimony was a cross over or a backup testimony to a lie that was said earlier by another witness on their behalf. My attorney introduced an affidavit which the City Official wrote and signed testifying the opposite of what he said on the stand. My question is how much weight do Judges put on key witnesses that are impeached during a hearing? Is their testimony considered very questionable? Since two witnesses were caught lieing on the same issue, and I testified that the discriminatory offenses were made and made pervasively, will this be sufficient to have established that these discriminatory remarks were enough to be considered a hostile environment? And, does the impeachment of two witnesses cross over to their entire story to cause a cloud of doubt on everything they said? Or will their testimony regarding the impeachment issue only be hurt? I'd like to have some kind of reasoning. Thanks.
