7 years ago I was divorced in the state of Texas. I remarried and I am now living in Oklahoma. I have sole custody of my two children that I had with the husband I am divorced from. When we divorced 7 years ago the amount of child support was $500 each month for him to pay. Well, 5 years ago he lost his good job and got a much lower paying job. I agreed to accept the child support payments of $265 each month because he told me he only made $6.00 an hour. This was all filed in court and made legal. Now here is my question...how do I get this amount increased. I know he is making more money now and has advanced far in the company he works in. It is time he pays more. Can I file in the State of Oklahoma since that is where the children live and make him go by Oklahoma laws? I hope my questions aren't too confusing. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

you have to domesticate the divorce to ok. you can do this yourself. you can also go to the child support enforcement of ok in you local county and they can help you. i know this because my husbands x lives in ok. and this is what we are making her do because that is what their law and the state of florida law says to do.

call the local court house in your area and see if they offer a law library, here is a web site for ok. also, you can find most forms online where you can print and file yourself, there are fees involved but is still cheaper than a lawyer. however if the enforcement department helps you it is a lot cheaper.

custodial and non custodial parents can use child enforcement agencies. that is what we are doing.

the second link allows you to find the state statues under the gov. section.

good luck

If Dad is still in TX

sorry, TX is the jurisdiction of CS.

Now, you COULD go through Child support enforcement in OK, and have them modify THROUGH TX for you.
