What is the name of your state? MI

First of all this is not a question.

My ex has custody of his daughter. The court order is through Allen County, IN. His ex has not paid support for 2 years now, and the IN court system finally took her to court for non payment. Ex didn't have to appear.

My ex gets a printout of what happened in court. She told the court that she is behind because she has her daughter for the entire summer and there is going to be a change of custody soon. Charges dropped. Can you believe this? First of all she has no proof, other than what she said, she took her daughter 2 weeks last summer, 1 the week before, and so far 3 this. OK, umm, what about the other 9 months you don't pay for?? Secondly there has not been anything filed for a change of custody. Do you think they would have that in there system somewhere? How can they just drop the case on those two idiotic reasons?

I really do sympathize with all of you trying to work with the child support system in Indiana.

They believed her or dropped it because they don't want to deal with it.

My ex was ordered in Jan. of 2000 at our initial court hearing to pay support. When we went for our final divorce hearing in May of 2000 he was living in Michigan and was already over 2,500 behind. He told the judge that the "support has just started coming out of the check I got this week. But, I had to be here for court so I wasn't home to get it to have proof." I knew it was a lie, but the judge bought it. She ordered 10$ a week on the arrearage and didn't set another court date. Of course I NEVER got that money. Today, he is 19,135.73 behind in support. I've had 4 court dates set up in the last year, all cancelled because they can't seem to get him served. My case is through Marion county and they won't even file criminal charges on him telling me that it's a "lengthy process and takes the goal from payment to punishment." Like I give a s**t!! I'm not getting anything anyways. Those dumb asses called him at a number I gave them once and then e-mailed me telling me he "refused to cooperate and give any useful information." Well HELLO BIG RED TRUCK... that's like telling a drug dealer.."hey, we'll be by your house around 3 today, don't go anywhere and make sure the drugs stay put too." I'm sick and tired of the system here. The county I live in now is trying to do something but supposably they aren't sure they can because the order is in another county. I call every month or so and TRY to get through. I've tried this lady every week for the last month and a half without luck. I just live my life day in and day out. Thankfully I can get by without it although this past year was a struggle. I know I'll never see that money but I can always hope.

On an up note I was talking to someone today and they were telling me their father is STILL paying support through his tax checks and she's 35. However, the thing we both said was unfair is that he's technically paid up on support... he was told he owed 27,000 in interest. Yeah some might find that fair but I'd find justice in just getting what was owed. I'm not out to ruin someone's life, just get what my children deserve.

Indiana is good at "losing" cases. My father ditched out almost 20 years ago and never paid a dime. I have personally gone down to Lake County Ind to file petions. Still nothing. He owes in excess of $110,000(which is no considered a felony Deadbeat Dad Act 1996) The State of Indiana does nothing but then again Ohio and Kentucky aren't great either. Whats really funny is recently he moved back to Ind and stole my brothers identy when it was reported still nothing. We have contacted every one from the head of Child Support to the Attorney General in all three states but nothing. They have all current information such as address phone number and place of employment. And in fact when my brother reported the identy theft in Kouts Ind the police officers actually admitted that they knew our dad because he works on thier cruisers. Funny thing is he has warrents out for his arrest for stolen property(cars and parts). Why won't anyone arrest this man. It's beyound me.
