undefinedWhat is the name of your state?Missouri
I need to know if a father can give up parental rights in my situation.
My son is 12 years old right now lives at boys and girls town he was placed there by the juvenile court. He had many counts agaist him including putting a pair of sissors to his 3 year old brother throat. He was kicked out of school in march because they considered him a danger. He also has touch his brother sexually which we made social services aware of. He has beeen in boys town since June and is not doing well there either. I also have a 1 year old son, I do not feel my other children would be safe around him, I myself and my wife don't feel safe around him. We are not trying to choose our other children over him but feel it is our obligation to keep them safe.
In this case what would I need to do to give up my rights to him or can I?
Also my wife is his stepmother.

You need to obtain the services of a family law attorney to represent YOU. If you no longer wish to have the child in your home then he should be made a ward of the state (if he hasn't been already). It is doubtful that in absence of a formal adoption the state will let you out of your obligation to continued health care coverage, unpaid medical & child support however (but this is just ONE additional reason you need your own attorney!)

Regardless, unless her parental rights have been terminated and/or she has no legal custodial rights (i.e. joint decision making rights) - she will need to be informed and given the opportunity to be involved.

And ditto the question regarding psych help up to now.
