Hi all!! I am doing a thesis paper on uncontested divorces and would like to do an informal poll.. If I can get at least 10 of you to answer these questions honestly and as accurately as possible I'd greatly appreciate it. Only answer if your divorce was uncontested eg. Neither spouse claimed a wrong-doing in the marriage and divorce was granted due to irreconcilable differences, incompatibility etc.

1-state divorced in

2-age at time of marriage...and divorce

3-# of children born during marriage

4- years/months married

5-Yes or No...Was marriage counseling attempted before filing for divorce?

6- If answered yes to #5....how long was marriage counseling .(ie..1 week or 1 time etc)

7-Do you believe that states that allow uncontested divorces make it too easy for couples to give up on a marriage??

Thankyou all in advance for your time!!
;)

#7. It depends on every situation. In mine at the time things started going bad I would of tried counseling however by the time it was over nothing would of worked. I had tried for too many years at that point. Again it depends on if people actually tried before hand.

1-state divorced in - Nebraska

2-age at time of marriage...and divorce - 20/57

3-# of children born during marriage - 4

4- years/months married - 37 yrs

5-Yes or No...Was marriage counseling attempted before filing for divorce? No--the marriage had been over for years.

6- If answered yes to #5....how long was marriage counseling .(ie..1 week or 1 time etc)

7-Do you believe that states that allow uncontested divorces make it too easy for couples to give up on a marriage?? Not at all. That's a decision each couple (or individual) has to make for themselves. Contested divorces only serve to crowd the court's calendar and drag the matter out, costing excessive amounts in attorney fees.

Yes, sought counseling.
Went to counseling total of 8 months, but 2 months 1st, then 6mths consecutive.
Yes, it is made too easy, atleast for it to be a one sided decision. Faced with court, judges, etc...it often seems easier to go with uncontested and take what is offerred compared to fighting alone.

I'm going to answer for my husband lol because I love polls LOL.

1. NC
2. Married at 18/ divorced at 24
3. 3 children (last one's paternity in question)
4. Married 6 yrs. and 9 mo. (seperated with no reconciliation for last 2 1/2 years of marriage)
5. No counseling
6. NA
7. No

Divorce was granted on grounds of 1 or more years of seperation. Should have been granted on more grounds than that though.

Papers (yuck) are sometimes necessary evils. Just one thing to remember: Don't let them stick to you.
