I've known plenty of people who were arrested because of informants, and they got the name of the informant, either on a response to a motion for discovery, or an affidavit, or something. Thanks for sharing.
Then what they got was the name of a witness or complaining party and NOT a "confidential informant". The police are NOT going to give up a CI that easily ... unless they never want to have one again.
It depends on the circumstances and the court case whether they would give it up or not. If it's simply that they arrested Johnny Joe Dirtbag for possession and he rolled over on his supplier, I doubt they will be holding that information to closely. If it's someone they nurtured and cultivated to do a few buy-busts for them, then they ain't gonna give that up easily.
