My daughter is a U.S. citizen and has recently attempted to marry a national in Tunisia. We attended her in Tunisia but were unable to obtain a "Certificate de Coutume" required by the officials at City Hall in Tunis. She has had to return to the U.S. without her fiance because they were unable to obtain their marriage certificate. She plans to return to Tunisia when she is 20 and of legal age in Tunisia. My question is What is a Certificate de Coutume and how do we obtain one. The other question is Can she obtain a Husband Visa while she is in Tunisia, after they are married. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

How old is your daughter ? I can not work out if you are for or against this marriage ? Do the couple plan to live in the US once they are married ?

My daughter is 19, and will be 20 in March. While we were in Tunisia with her we signed a consent for marriage at city hall and the embassy. They will live in tunisia but would like to get visiting privileges to the U.S. for him. Thank you for your response.
