What is the name of your state? West Virginia
A 20 year old guy is walking down the street minding his own business, when two state cops stop him, order him to take his hands out of his pockets, search him for no reason, question him about something he knows nothing about, threaten several times to arrest him for "anything they want" including not having a drivers license (even tho he was on foot), and then call over the scanner that they pulled him over driving, even reading off a tag number... They then turn him loose because they found nothing wrong.
Shortly before this, the same cops, along with 4 others, push thru the door of an apartment with no warrant, jerk the man of the house out of bed, naked in front of minors, accuse him of giving minors alcohol, but refuse to give anyone breathylizers to prove it. They ask the minor girls, one of which lives there, their ages, (both 17), then write 15 and 16 on their paperwork. The one they called 15 even showed them her birth certificate... They arrested the guy with no apparent evidence of anything, and told him he was not allowed to be any where near or have any contact with his fiance of 2 years (not even eye contact) or theyll put him in jail for a year, but they tell her she can stay there as long as he's not there, because she lives there with him....Then they call child protective services on her mother. (The girl has not lived with her mom in 2 1/2 years!) The girls were also told by the State cops that it was illegal for minors to even be AROUND anyone drinking, even their parents in their own homes..... They made a big deal of taking the one girl home, which was right across the street, and when they found the parents were not there, but her 15 year old brother was, they made a big deal out of that too, like it was illegal for a 15 year old to be alone while mom goes to the laundrymat.
At the appartment, the cops all had on black gloves which they never took off. They did not give their names to the girls, and when the girls went to the town cops office the next day to do paperwork, the town cops tell them they DONT KNOW THE NAMES of the state police they were working with.
This type of "law enforcement" is common in WV. Is there enough here to file complaints against the State police? How much of this nonsense is actually legal? Will any of the charges stand up in court?
