What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

Our new order states that in addition to child support, Dad is Ordered to pay $xxx to Mom as medical support as reimbursement for health insurance that is provided by mom. Medical Support is to begin on July 1, 2011.

I was considering emailing Dad out of curiosity to see if it was garnished with his child support payments, however he is still mad about it and I'm a little scared to 'inflame' him further.

Is medical support typically garnished or is Dad responsible for sending those payments in himself?

There was no change in child support and everything has continued the same. I've received it as I normally do.. Wondering if I should just keep waiting or when should I contact someone to find out if it's being submitted at all?

My curiosity is that when we decided that I would carry the insurance, I had to immediately put my daughter on my health insurance and dad was to immediately start paying but it's been 3 months since this was decided and over two months since he was ordered to start paying. I also understand that it would be a month behind like the child support is because of pay days.

I don't want to contact anyone 'too soon' if you know what I mean. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

What does the garnishment order say? You should have received a copy of it - and it will say how much is being garnished.

Always read your paperwork first.

Hey Misto

I've never received garnishment paperwork. This is our third change in support and all I have ever received was the actual court order. 1st the seperation order where spousal support and child support was ordered. 2nd the final decree of divorce terminating spousal support and final child support order. 3rd (this modification) the final order signed by the judge of the modification of custody/access/support/medical support.

Child support has never changed and I've never not received it. Some things have changed. For example: I received checks from the support disbursement unit for the first two years. Then they issued a debit card. Then I signed up online for direct deposit. I've never called them or talked to anyone-- never needed a reason. My attorney has always taken care of support issues (never had an issue except getting it started when divorce was filed).

Is this something I need to ask my lawyer for or should I contact the disbursement unit?

Thanks Misto!

Go ahead and spend the money on your attorney if you wish, but wouldn't it be easier just to call the disbursement unit?

Lol you are right on that one.

Would my attorney view it as me going 'around' him? Case is closed so I would think not but just want to be able to use him next go around..

Why would your attorney think you're going around him? You're simply asking a question.

Not to mention that if the case is closed, you're free to do whatever you want and no attorney is going to care.
