The question hasn't been answered because we thought the answer was obvious - even for you. Apparently not. By being a licensed driver, you knew, or should and could have known, that New Jersey is a mandatory insurance State. No insurance, no driving.
You're going to lose your license for about
30 days, pay a hefty fine (or do "Community Service" if you can't afford the fine).
The "faxing" situation is of no moment. The fact remains you didn't have any insurance coverage.
Ignorance of the law is not a defense or an excuse. The bottom line: You knew you should not have been driving without proper insurance.
