Is taping phone conversations illegal?

My boyfriend revealed to me tonight that he had been secretly taping the last month of our private phone conversations without my permission. And to top that all, he has been bringing them to his therapist and letting her listen to them. Is this legal? I would like to think that is a direct violation of my privacy. Please help!

Some States are 2 party consent,...some are only 1 party.

These laws are referred to as "one-party consent" statutes, and as long as you are a party to the conversation, it is legal for you to record it. (Nevada also has a one-party consent statute, but the state Supreme Court has interpreted it as an all-party rule.)"
