Is there anyway to find out about someone's...?

What is the name of your state? KS

I was wondering if there is anyway to find out if someone actually enlisted in the service?

I do not know what branch it would have been, if he was.

Are you a family member? Will that individual give you a release for you to write for his military records?

More information on the who, what, where, etc, please.

Thankfully not related!

I am not related to this person.

He has a history of DV, drug & alcohol abuse, using alias to try and hide from law enforcement, creditors, etc.

What he says, is more likely than not a lie. Doesn't matter if your related, your a judge, etc.

This is the reason for asking the question. Would just really like to know if him telling someone he was in the military is the truth.

I guess since I'm not related, I can't find out.

Thank You!

You can find out very limited information (stuff not protected by the Privacy Act of 1974), but not much else (stuff that is protected by the Privacy Act of 1974), by doing a FOIA request.

Just curious. what can be obtained through FOIA and what is the process? Can it be done online?

I have often been intrigued by this (FOIA) but have never exercised my right to obtain information.

I know that http://www.thememoryhole.org uses FOIA on a regular basis with a good deal of success.

Just curious. Is the person in question claiming something like SEAL or POW or something rare like that? If so, there are web sites aimed at catching people like that. Just Google key words like fake SEAL or fake POW. You'd be surprised at how common that is.

Not sure!

All I know he has told people that he was in the service. I will do a search on what has been mentioned here.

I would have a hard time believing 99% of what this guy and his girlfriend tell people.

He currently has a NCO against him for domestic violence. For some reason trial keeps getting rescheduled. It might be because victim isn't cooperative when it comes to courts & any court orders.

After doing a little more research, I think she is taking advantage of the elderly woman she lives with. I wish I knew if this elderly woman had kids, that could be made aware that this NCP will take everything she can get, whether she's entitled to it or not. This woman could make you believe she is your best friend, when she's your worst enemy.

What is your relationship with this person and why would any of the info really be important.

If the guy is like you post, just leave him out of your life. There are alot of liars in the world. Not much you can do about them but ignore them.

No direct relationship with him

This man is the step-dad of my nephew. I guess that's why I want to know if the man truly has a military history. Want to know if he is experienced using weapons, has had any training in self defense, etc. I know legally he can't possess a fire arm at this time, but this individual couldn't careless whether he obeys court orders.

This man has physically attacked my brother, and made more threats to beat the tar out of him.

This man has been found guilty of DV 4th degree- 4 times, and is currently charged again. His abuse doesn't just stop at beating his girlfriend(my nephew's Mom). He has also assaulted minor children, some of his, and some of her kids. I haven't included the other abuses, that this individual and my nephew's Mom have committed.

It makes my brother sick, to think of what his son may have witnessed and a victim of, that he doesn't know about.

I think knowing more information about this individual, leaves my brother better prepared to help protect his child physically, emotionally, & mentally.

Before my nephew is suppose to leave for summer visitation to WA from KS, my brother is trying to gether as much legal documentation as possible, so he can file to get the PP modified.

I have to say that the Judges that have had jursidication in KS, have helped by looking out for the best interest of this child.
