What is the name of your state? New York.
Thirty years ago my mother made her checking account a joint account with me in case of an emergency. For the last ten years I have been paying all her nursing homes expenses out of this account. I am concerned that if something happens to me there is no one else authorized to access her account. I have an older brother who could take over for me, but how do I do that now that she is 95 and suffering from dementia?
Thank you.

Talk to the bank about this to see if they have a solution for this. Does your mother have a last will and testament and do you know where it is and does she have assets besides the bank account that would need to be probated? and do YOU have your will made out that would name your brother as beneficiary?
