What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Massachusetts

I got an e-mail from an agent at the property management group of the apartments I live at. I was a little late with my rent, so I got the message and it said the info about the rent and it said if you see your neighbors Jenn & Rich tell them the same. They happen to be friends of mine, but your financial sitution is not something you discuss with just anyone. Is that even legal. That is a huge breach of confidentiality. From what my father told me who is a landlord, your rent is due on the first of the month but leagally you have till 15th is that true?
Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Your father is wrong unless he can cite the law that gives Massachusetts tenants the 15 day "grace period" (as it's called).

How much late is "a little?" If you make a habit of it, you could find yourself facing eviction.

I would tell Jenn and Rich, and let them decide what they want to do about the invasion of their privacy by the landlord. He's out of line.

I was about a week late sending it in. Its not a common thing so I am not to worried about that. My main concern was just that he would tell me their business like that. I know its not right to be late with your rent but I would be really embarresed if he sent the same thing to any of neighbors about me. I told my neighbors and they are irate. They wanted to know if that was legal for him to tell people their confidential information,
