What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Georgia. I'm 16 and I'm going to court in about a month. My friend and I were arrested when we tried to run away and the day before that she stole fifty dollars and a three hundred dollar ipod from the locker room at school. I'm being charged with theft now and i'm probably getting a year of probation which is what my school officer is telling me. The thing i'm really worried about is the day we tried to run away we were smoking pot. And I found out two days ago that joint we smoked also had PCP and crystal meth in it. If they drug test me when I go to court and I test positive what's going to happen to me then? My friends say that I'll just get another year of probabation. Will they send me to Juvie?

It's possible that they will put you in Juvie, it depends on the lawyer you have and the judge, and the whole situation.
But what will happen is you'll have to pay fines, sometimes several fines, you'll have to get drug tested regurarly, you probably will have a probation officer, they'll probablly have you do community service work. They may even take away your licence or you'll only be able to drive at certain times.

This is serious buisness kid. I suggest you clean up your act, stop using drugs, make friends with people who wont get you in trouble with the law. And I'm sorry if I'm scareing you, but I'm pretty sure your really scareing your parents and the people that really care about you.
This is not things you mess with, it's dangerious and you can and will get into big trouble for this.

You have your whole life ahead of you, don't waste it. And when you go to court be honest and respectful. Good luck.

Yeah i know. I didn't expect it to get me in so much trouble. I wouldn't have touched the stuff if i had known what was really in it. I'm just worried about going to jail right now and if i think there is a chance of it I'm probably going to lie. They don't know we were doing drugs they only know we tried to run away and my friend stole some stuff and that's it. I'm in enough trouble with that. I could just tell the judge everything else and not mention the drugs. The only problem is that my friend has already been tested and she was positive for all that stuff so I'm trying to clean out my system in case they do test me. I don't plan on ever doing anything like this again. I just got myself into some really stupid things. But now all I can think about is I don't want to go to jail.

If they ask you, if you have been doing drugs, don't lie, that way their will be no surprises if they do test you. It takes a long time for your system to be cleared out of the drugs. I had a friend that got in trouble with drugs.

If your honest with the court, they will take that in a good way. Always be up front with them, in the long run it will help you, maybe even prevent you from going to jail. My friend did get off easy and didn't go to jail, but had to do all the other things I had listed to you.

But if you lie, they wont be on your side, they will see that as being disrespectful and probably will be a lot harder on you, but had you told the truth you may get a lighter punishment.

So in other words, don't lie kid. I'm sure you know what happened to Picnoicio when he lied. It will be hard and I know your scared, but lieing in court want help you, it will only get you in more trouble.

If you didn't get arrested for anything drug-related, they aren't going to drug test you. Chances are your being paranoid, most times to be drug tested you need to be submitted to a drug program. Your fine, especially if you had no priors. If they asked me, personally, I would lie. They can't just test you.

No, I believe they can if they wanted to or see reason to, at my high school, if a kid got into trouble enough times, even if it wasn't drug related, they could drug test the student, it stated it right in the school policy if the student reached a certain level they would be drug test.

When will you have your court date? Have you talked to anyone about this, police, lawyers? Your parents?

No I don't have a court date yet. But I did have to talk to a social worker today about what I was being charged with. I'm being charged with runaway and two counts of theft. Nothing about drugs so far. I haven't mentioned drugs to any lawers or police officers. I did tell my parents though. I'm glad I did because they're going to help me out. They can't drug test me without my parents' permission and my dad said he won't give them that permission. But one of the police statements did say that I had been drinking and taking perscription drugs from my dad. That's not going to help my situation any. But so far it doesn't look like I'll be going to jail or anything. I probably was being paranoid. I'll just have to wait to see when my court date is and just go through with it. I'll definitely be put on probation though.
