I'm really disappointed in this site. This lady wants to know if there is someway she could be granted an extension of 10 days and the response to her inquiry was, "how will 10 more days help you when you knew months ago that you were being served a notice to vacate." Hardly an answer to her question. You'd think that the person responding to her inquiry was the landlord that wants her to vacate himself. Come on guys can we stop the hostilities...this is suppose to be a site for free advice from legal counsel and it seems you guys are biased toward the landlords.

I have been visiting this site for a couple years now, and I need to comment.....the site is freeadvice.com, not please coddle me and hold my hand.com. You may not like the tone, but it is free, and it is real, and it's not about feelings. What HomeGuru said is realistic, she must have known a couple months in advance she was going to need to get out, so her bad for not moving on it when she should have. Please people, take the personal feelings out of it - again it's FREE advice, these lawyers are not getting paid to be nice to you, they are doing it FOR FREE!!!!!!!

Cres when you were in court if you asked for hardship time and were granted say up to 7 daysor what ever the max allowable is in court . The only way you can get more time at this point is if the sheriffs dept is slow to return . DIRK BTW if you have no children or provable disability it is common that only 24 to 48 hours to vacate is given when it concerns all others who are infront of judges in eviction matters .

okay again, take personal feelings out of it - it's not about that, it's about advice that's free, and that's all....I am sorry for your situation, I'm sure it hasn't been easy. My only point, and it is a very general one, not directed at anyone in particular, is that this is only about legal advice, and nothing more. talk to any lawyer over the phone or in person, and ask for advice, and you will find that they are genarally direct and to the point, and there is not a whole heck of a lot of room for feelings. My comments were not an attack, so do not take them that way. Just be sure when you post, you tell the whole story, or you may not get a whole answer. Also, eviction is not something that comes as a surprise, generally you have a couple months before it is final, and should therefore be prepared for it.

**A: ok, Dirt, you got me. I am the Landlord.
I get paid big bucks in legal fees to tell the truth and provide the real facts. And that's all I am doing. If I wanted to hand hold, say, "now there there, it will all be better soon" get out the violins so you can cry on my shoulder kind of attorney, I would have specialized in family law.
