What is the name of your state? NY

My friend wants to know if she has a right to sue for harassment against her employer. They are using her refusal to purchase a laptop on her own, to deny her training courses and better performance rating. They claim that if she had a personal laptop, she could be able to perform production support from home. The company will not provide a free laptop to its staff.

Thanks.

Your "FRIEND" needs to work at McDonalds.
What the hell does having a laptop have to do with the law? She either buys one or finds work elsewhere.

Harassment? Are you kidding?

(1) If the employer wants to require employees to provide their own laptops, they may. (2) Nothing in the law says the employer has to provide employees laptops. (3) They certainly can deny her training opportunities and a higher performance rating due to her refusal to comply with their request.

If your friend doesn't care for the terms of her employment, then she should look for a different position elsewhere.
