What is the name of your state? Indiana

My 14 year old daughter lives with my ex. This past weekend my daughter informed me that, since she is currently failing the 9th grade, my ex is going to home school her for the next 3 years. Since my ex did not finish high school I don't feel she is qualified to home school our daughter. I voiced my concern's to my daughter and she said that my ex is worried that our daughter will drop out of school and then I won't have to pay child support.
Does anyone know what the laws are on home schooling a child in Indiana? Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening?

I called the school here in my town and asked about home school last year. They told me that the only way the state of Indiana recognizes home schooling is if it is done by someone that is qualified to teach a certain subject; i.e. a person with a current teaching degree. Since your ex didn't even finish school I seriously doubt she would be considered qualified. Call your local school or board of education and ask them like I did. Then tell your ex she's nutty and should send that kid to school. And btw, it's against the law here for a 14 year old to drop out of school. Ask the board of ed about that one. ;)

LMSP. someone fed you a line of poopie!:) There are no teaching requirements to homeschool in Indiana, let alone many states.

Also, here is the law on drop out age's for all states http://www.cga.state.ct.us/2000/rpt/olr/htm/2000-R-0503.htm

My suggestion, start getting into contact with the school. The year is almost over and you are just now finding out how poorly your daughter is doing? I know an NCP here who contacts the child's school during conferences and in regards to any issue's, such as poor grades. Maybe you ought to look up her posts, BLCM...this is one dedicated parent. She takes it upon herself to get informed about her children being in school! It isn't something she leaves up to the children to tell her!

What kind of custody agreement do you have?
Whether or not your child is homeschooled, you will still have to pay support unless she becomes an emancipated minor and at 14, that will not happen.
