What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ky

I have had my Grandson since the day he was born and the adoption was to be filed at 6 months...our lawyer (my husband and I) were told by the lawyer that his girl (I am not sure what she was, I think a Secretary but I am not sure) filed the paperwork 3 months too early so the case was thrown out. Now he signed the paperwork..I do not understand why he would blame her. Next she was fired and he hired a man who again gave us the run-around...we called and NEVER got the lawyer, finally we set up an appointment after I demanded it or I would go to the bar...He told us that the man had left and that he had lost a lot of the cases and ours was one of them and that we had to resign everything and then he could file it again. We started checking with the court to see if it was filed and two months later it was finally filed. The social workers came for another home visit (they are so nice that I told them to come back anytime...they were always welcome...we see them every three months when we go get the little one his WIC and they are surprised that the adoption has not been finished because they think we are great...their words exactly) BTW he is now 19 months old and I called today and talked to the judge's Secretary about the case...she told me that yes it was still active, and yes the cabinet had filed its report and that if the judge needed anything else from my husband and I she would call us herself.
My question is this (and I hope I have given enough information here) Is my lawyer doing his job?? I do understand that I am not his only client and that he has lots of other responsibilities, but I would like to be called every 2 or 3 months at least. Now There is no one answering the phone...no Secretary, not the lawyer...there is no person in the office just an answering machine with other people's name on it and their phone numbers on it. Am I asking too much? And before you ask...He was paid in full a month before the child was born and all of the paperwork was signed the day after he was born. I do not mind if you yell at me or whatever. I just need advice please and thank you.

Yes they both did, They signed the papers after having their own lawyer and they had 20 days to change their minds. And neither wanted to. They also signed paperwork from my lawyer for the courts. Their lawyer filed her paperwork which gave me custodial rights to him according to the courts. They have no rights as of twenty three days after his birth.
