Good afternoon,

My lawyer received a call from my ex's laywer wanting to settle the past child support. He owes me $17,000. My ex wants to give me $10,000 plus lawyers fees, I told my lawyer NO!!! But I am willing to take $12,000 plus $965.00 that the court awarded me for my council fees that I already paid, and what's still owed to my lawyer around $2,000. A week later since I haven't heard anything from my lawyer I called and he tells me that he received a ck from my ex for $11,000 and that he deposited yesterday. I told him where did he get the amount of $11,000, he bluntly lied to me and says that he has it in his notes, the only thing that I agreed and I have in writing from my lawyer goes like this. "Plaintiff shall remit twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) in full and final satisfaction of all arrears and councel fees awards entered in this matter....

My lawyer sent me an e-mail yesterday with this info> 1. Plaintiff shall remit Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11,000) in full and final satisfaction of all arrears and counsel fees awards entered in this matter through today's date. Said payment shall be made in full before January 1, 2006.

I did not agree upon $11,000 can my lawyer accept this without my consent? can I refuse to accept payment?
