What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? RI
Hello, I have already checked the disciplinary board for RI, but what I am looking for is any legal action taken against this doctor, settlements where no disciplinary action would be taken as part of the settlement, attorneys who represented patients against him. Is there any public place where I can find this information. I know he has had legal action taken against him and at the time I was told by another medical person about this doctor, I was right in the middle of preparing for a second surgery and when I asked my attorney about what was told to me he said not to worry that if we found a new doctor now, we would be starting from scratch thus prolonging the case that much longer so now years and several surgeries later, I am wondering if it can be pursued.

Thank You for your time,
David

What exactly do you want to pursue?

Out of court settlements generally include non disclosure agreements. If a suit was filed and later dropped, you might be able to find it by searching all the court records from all the courts where the doctor might have been sued. Which may or may not be available online. And may or may not tell you anything about the case other then it was filed and later dropped or settled.

Thank You ecmst12, I want to pursue a lawsuit and yes it is for money and it is also for the chronic pain in which I live daily I went from being a 40 year old father to a 80 year old who can't hold his head up for more than an hour, I do want someone accountable, I do want someone to know that when they walk in the room they don't ask me " who did your first surgery" I do want someone is who is happy to do as many surgeries as he can and then not follow thru with care in his office and leave it to the P.A.'s to drop you and say well I guess your just a slow healer and there is nothing more we can do for you, and I don't want my lawyer to tell me he will sue him after my case is settled and then my lawyer tell me the state is too small and he needs this surgeon for other cases. Thank you I know he has been involved in other lawsuits and I know they are settled and therefore not reported to a disciplinary board. as a result of the settlement, I however would not find that acceptable as the many times I sat in his office and saw the crippling amount of patients it was like a factory, and he is like a mad butcher who thinks he's God....

If you want to sue, you need a lawyer who will take your case and a medical expert (or several) who will testify that they surgeon's treatment was below the standard of care and that ALONE, not your underlying injury/condition, is the only cause of your damages.

If you expand your search to a larger area and you still can't find a lawyer to take your case, it most likely means that you don't have one.

Lawyers in MA and CT will almost definitely also be licensed to practice in RI.
