What is the name of your state? Ohio.
My mother is 78 years old and mentally astute. Due to passport regulations she cannot own her own car. Can I purchase a car and allow her to be the primary or secondary driver? If she has an accident, what is my liability?

It would ultimately be up to your insurance company to decide if they wanted to insure her or not. Contact them.

If the car is registered under your name, any lawsuit will go under you. Since you are the registered owner of the car you are held responsible for anything that happens with the car. So what that means is if she crashes, you get sued.
