What is the name of your state?Tennessee

My 17 year old was under the care of his primary custodian, his mom. He was unsupervised at 1am, drove a car speeding and crashed. Am I responsible for any lawsuits his passenger (with minor injuries) parents or the owner of the car he had borrowed and totaled bring and his medical bills? Should I get a lawyer?

Did your son have a driver's license & was the vehicle at least insured?

Yes he had a driver's license and insurance.

I've heard of parents purchasing "Umbrella Policies" when they have teenagers and want to insure they don't lose their homes, etc. in the event of a lawsuit- But if the teen is licensed and the car had insurance (which covered drivers aside from the registered owner)...then usually the automobile insurance company would handle any property damage or minor injury claims.
