What is the name of your state? Ohio
I have a 14 y/o son that is on probation for fighting. Part of that was to do community service. Every time he had it set up, he changed his mind ot go "play". We saw the PO and he gave him a month to do the hours. (24). I gave him the book and told him to find some places that interested him and I would make the calls. WELL I JUST FOUND OUT that his grandmother FORGED the form and said that he did 12 hours worth of work for her and 12 hours for her friend.
I am fit to be tied. He just learned that he doesnt have to pay the price for doing wrong. What would happen if I told the judge that the forms were forged??

If I were you I might just go and tell the judge, and see if there is a way to set up for your son to do the work for real. And then I would take to his grandmother about what she did. Otherwise if it gets out that the forms arn't even real, you and your son could get in trouble, maybe even his grandmother.

And the sooner the better. The longer you wait, the more guilty you look.

And what were you doing when he decided to go play?

Sounds like everyone needs a lesson.
Tell the judge.
Hopefully the judge will increase the requirement for community service 2 or 3 times and require something gross, like cleaning out stables or kennels, maybe grandma will get community service as well.

I was trying to teach him a lesson. There are times for work and times for play. He is old enough to know right from wrong. He knew that it was wrong for him to blow off the service, however, by doing so it was just extending his probation time. If he never wants to get off probation then that is his choice. He knows the consequences. He wants to act like an adult, I will treat him like on.
ANd if they went behind my back then how can I be held responsible??

He's 14, and you're the parent. If he's not doing it on his own, you dog him through every step, you take him to his CS, you sit there and watch him complete it. You don't just give him the book and leave him to handle it. Your kid is obviously on the edge of further trouble, so it doesn't seem overly bright to leave him to "learn his own lesson". Sorry.
