We havent been back to court since sept. Nothing new to really report on . Boys began court ordered therapy JAn 11. Last week our lawyer calls us to tell us BMs lawyer quit.
What are the reasons a lawyer would quit a case???? BM's lawyer put in motion to withdraw from case on Feb 1. Our lawyer called to tell us they have a hearing to go over her motion. Could this be the end of our court battle for now??? We think BM is not paying lawyer fees. We cant think of any other reason why she would just up and quit. Also Bm's part of therapy bill goes to her lawyer and she then sends it on to her. Are we responsible for getting her half to her now?? Or will the lawyer give them her address? Bm hasnt called or had any contact with boys since day after Christmas. (we were the ones who called then not her)

BM - are you referring to Birth Mother? Please spell out the words. Her lawyer could have quit the case for any reason. He/she is not obligated to disclose the reason to anyone other than the judge (although you could very well get copies). The lawyer could have quit for any number of reasons..... non-payment, conflict of interest, a personality confict, or she could have fired him/her for any reason she chooses. Regardless, once the lawyer is relieved from the case, he/she is under no further obligation whatsoever to continue/contact or forward papers/phone calls etc. to anyone. Case continuance depends on her next move...either by herself or thru another counsel.
