What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida. There is a lady in my town who is down on her luck. Her church says she is a good and honest person but suffers from mild mental illness-depression. She is staying at a homeless shelter. I am curious. I am thinking that I would like to help out. However, I would make it clear to her that it would only be for 30 days and then she would have to leave. My biggest fear is that she would not leave at the end of 30 days and I would be stuck with a "squattter". Is there anything I could do legally before her moving in to make sure she would have to leave legally? Thanks for any assistance.

Posting history. NO really -- posting history. Stray cats that are malnourished, elder care and now homeless women. I could have sworn she had custody battles but apparently not. Unless she deleted those threads.

**A: have her church find some one else to be a landlord and the church could sign the lease. There is no way to guaranty that a tenant is going to vacate after 30 days.

Posting history?

Yes the homeless cats found a permanent home. Why would someone be so concerned about my posting history? Are you only allowed to ask one legal question here for your entire life?
I just have legal questions sometimes that's all. If I have offended anyone by asking legal questions please accept my apologies. Am I posting here too often?

Be sure to file your schedule H for the FMV of rent and food for this "live-in housekeeper".

As to the prior postings, it seems you can sometimes.....lack good judgment. I think most here would advise you to not do this. All will tell you there is little you can have her sign beforehand to keep you from coming back in a month about another terrible problem related to the situation.

In the" good old days", if a person's name was not on the lease all you had to do was call the cops and the cops would come and make them leave. I have a desire to help others but I cannot do so because it is too risky for me to do so. It's very sad.:(

The "cops" will not do that, citing this as a civil, not criminal matter.

MANY a good samaritan has found themselves in quite a pickle doing exactly the same thing you are thinking of doing; it is not unusual that once a homeless person finds a sucker to allow them free room and board (or even expects them to pay rent that never happens) they do not willingly leave the property without a long and expensive battle on the part of the home owner to get them out of their hair.
