What is the name of your state? Louisiana
Recently I attended a function where in our group was a man who had been married to a co-worker several years ago in a previous job. In that relationship, there had been incidents of abuse (some resulting in injury and a restraining order.) He is now dating the co-worker of my friend who organized the function we were attending. Later that evening, in a private conversation, I mentioned to my friend that he had a history of aggression in a past relationship but didn't go into any details. This was very out of character for me, but I was feeling uncomfortable. Now I understand the MYOB factor, but if there were any warning signs, I thought having someone near to his new girlfriend who knew the history might prevent something bad from happening. It was only after my mentioning his past indiscretion that I found out that he had a business that provided a supporting function for my friend's office (i.e. he doesn't work directly for my friend but provides some external services for the office.)
While my intent was not malicious and it was truthful, I am now wondering what position I might have put myself in.
Any comments would be helpful.
