What is the name of your state? Louisiana

I need to know on what grounds a minor can get emancipated. My friend is 15, turning 16 in September and he got his girlfriend pregnant. His parents said that he can never see her again and they will have nothing to do with the baby, but he wants to stay with her and take care of the baby. Can he get emancipated because his parents are keeping him from taking care of his own child. His girlfriends parents said that it was ok if he lives with them as long as he stays in school and has a job. If there is any information anyone can give me about this, it would be much appriciated.

He can't live with his girlfriends parents, even if their okay with it. He's a minor and his parents get to tell him what to do, however since he got this girl pregnant, he is resposibly for his child, child support and such.

In order for him to be emancipated.

He will need to show the court that he is able...
To handle a full time job and school
Can pay rent for an apartment
Pay for food, clothes and whatever else he wants
Pay of car and medical insurance
Support himself 100 percent
Provided the court with good reason as to why they should grant this
And must have parents concent

However the court will not be pleased with him getting his girlfriend pregnant, they will see it as not being resposibly so it is unlikely that they will even allow him to be emancipated.

Although I do not believe his parents can keep him from seeing his own child and wanting to be part of his life. Although they do have rights from preventing him from staying at his girlfriends house.

How can that happen if his parents want him to have nothing to do with the child or the mother? They already said that he can never see her again, so how can he prevent them from doing that without causing more trouble?

They may be allowed to tell him he can't date her. But by law if DNA tests prove this is his child, he will be held accounable for this child paying child support and such.

Here's what your friend should do, have him talk to a school consouler about what his parents are saying. The consouler should be able to help him out, even talking to his parents.

His parents need to realize that this child is his responisbility.
