Lunches, Breaks, etc..

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but wasn't sure which most applies.

But my question is in reference to lunches and breaks.

I work in a call center in Florida, and work 4 ten hour shifts (11 hours with lunch). Today I work from 10am to 9pm and my schedule is as follows:

Lunch 11 - 12
Break 3:00 - 3:20
Break 5:40 - 6:00

So, after my lunch hour I will have 9 hours to go and will only have two twenty minute breaks. Is this legal?

Since your employer doesn't have to provide you with any breaks at all, yes, it's perfectly legal.

WOW, I am surprised to learn that an employer can require you to work 9 hours without breaks. I thought there were laws to protect workers. Guess I was wrong.

Laws regarding lunches and breaks are state specific. Some states do require them. Florida doesn't.

Florida offers very few protections to its workers, I have to say. Other states do much better.

WOW, I am surprised to learn that an employer can require you to work 9 hours without breaks. But as you have experienced , employers do offer meal and rest breaks even though no laws require them to do so.
