I dont if pending matters , with data bases If I ran one & sold the info I would not want any info unless it had fact to back it up. Like convictions , or say civil court records and so you know , if they want you out for a issue of non pay, theres no way they can fairly ask for you to pay them for remaining months on a lease. ( since university is so close then theres no reason at all that they would have any trouble getting a new tenant in. Up to you as to what you do with all this but if you really didnt do this you have every reason to fight tooth n nail. Again up to you, but with out a court order if you decide you will leave you make sure that this LL puts into writing that 1 that your lease is terminated with out any penalty to you and they will fully refund your deposit , If they wont do that or scoff feel free to remind them that if they attempt to take you to court with out enough solid proof to win they will lose the filing fee , look like horses asses in court and have to do it all over again. so it comes down to how far you want to go, your landlord will be held to a higher standard in court since they are the one who is in business here.
