You have to file in court NOT THROUGH CSEA in order to get reimbursed for your child support until birth (as opposed to filing) and for the birth expenses. CSEA will get you future support but NOT past support. Only the court will do it. It takes more time but you go that route. My county huh?

Ahhh, gotcha.

Well, if the father and I can come to a happy agreement (yeah, right) then I was going to try to keep it out of court. If he totally flakes, we're off to see the wizard!!!

Um, yeah, I thought you were Summit or Portage county. Thats what I've heard you talk about in your posts, unless I'm delusional - which is a possibility. Maybe if I become worthy, we'll meet someday :D

I refuse to answer on the grounds it may incriminate me.

DO NOT keep it out of court.
Also go to drcourt.org and you will have to fill out the application for child support services, the parenting affidavit and the income and expenses sheet. All three need filed. As well as paternity application which should also be on that page.

Thanks for the info. It seems like a good place to start!

Why do you say, "DO NOT keep it out of court."??? Wouldn't it be more amicable to solve issues between the two parties on your own? If we agree to something, wouldn't the judge just file what we agree on? I know that we will need an order, to keep everything official. Can it just be filed, or does it have to be both mom and dad standing before the judge?

Yes you can come to an agreement. But you also want the judge to review it and sign it. But you will also need a child support worksheet run and attached even if you agree to a different amount and explain why the amount is NOT what the child support worksheet figures it as.

Which of those forms that you directed me to is the "child support worksheet?" I have used the Ohio child support calculators online to figure out what the basic support would be (based on what I know), but if I could figure out an exact amount it would help.

The reason the amount might be different if we work it out is because of travel expenses. I want to work out something with the dad to make sure he will come up to Ohio and see him, or if he can't, then I can fly with the baby down to Texas. I want to make sure they will have as much contact as possible, given the circumstances.

It is not online at drcourt.org .... Sorry. they use a computer program that calculates everything throughout a four page worksheet.

Soooooo************** do I have to go to the court house, get the amount computed, then talk about it with the dad? Sorry, process is a little confusing to me. thanks for bearing with me. And then what forms get filled out to take them before the judge?

Is there any site that explains the process or can help someone go pro se? I don't want to screw this up.

thank you
