What is the name of your state? Wyoming

My son was injured in a skiing accident which left him parapalegic. At the time of his accident he was employed with no insurance.

Due to his injury, he aquired thousands of dollars in medical bills. He is just now 21 and there is no way he will be able to pay this debt.

He started receiving medicaid the month after his injury. The month of his injury he made to much money to qualify for medicaid thus leaving him with a mountain of medical bills.

He had decided to file bankruptcy pro se since it is just medical bills he has. He has not yet filed and recently announced that he would like to marry his girlfriend this summer.

How does this affect his bankruptcy? If he files now then marries before it is discharged how will that affect it? His girlfriend has no major assets of her own accept her car.

Any advice regarding this would be appreciated.

In theory, it should not matter but as a pratical matter, I suggest he file and get the bk discharged before he marries. That way, there can be no dispute about her being responsible for any old debt he incurred prior to marriage.
He needs to file before 10/17 to beat the bk law changes.

Probably not, but to keep ANY possibility of complications OUT of the picture, holding off would still be a better idea.
