What age can a person move out, I have heard its 17 is that true??

Generaly it's 18, and that without permission. Otherwise if your under 18 you need mom and dad's permission to move out.

I also live in Texas. I moved out at 17 due to abuse from my step father, and psychological abuse from my own mother. They never gave me any trouble about moving out. It was my understanding that it was legal for a 17 year old to move out, but I am not an attorney and would like more information on the subject myself.

I currently have a little sister that is in a very difficult situation at home. She will be 17 soon, and I would like to know what her rights are? And, if there is anything that I can do to help her? (She is in texas)
