What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Florida

Hired movers for an across State move. Upon delivery, nearly all glass in pieces of furniture was broken. The way some of the pieces were packed it was inevitable this was going to happen.

Movers destroyed a new floor by not putting covering on it despite reassurances by general manager prior to delivery this would be done. They were dragging furniture across wood.

Approximately $4,000 in damage and they offered $250 to settle which is ludicrous. I started a BBB complaint but it is as if a 3 year old from their company is responding.

Next step? If I do take then to court is the venue in the county I reside in and where damage occurred?

Have you filed a claim with your homeowners insurance?

Sue them in small claims court where you live now. They will have the opportunity to contest the venue. Once the realize you have sued them they might just settle.

I'm assuming that you didn't buy any insurance, which was crazy on your part, and I'm also assuming that you didn't do any checks to make sure things like the glasses were being packed properly.

The BBB isn't going to do anything for you except file a complaint for viewing by others who are thinking of using that company to move. They don't have the legal authority to force the company to issue a refund or replacement(s).
