My boss docked hours...

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? michigan

I work in construction. We are working on a school right now so it needs to be done before school starts. We have been working 60 hour weeks lately. My foreman just admitted that he goes in and docks our hours to make it look like we got more done in less time. Is that legal? I worked 60 hours last week and only got paid for 47.5. Which, my over time (7.5) I only made time and a quarter. I thought after 40 hours it had to be time and a half. And any over time accumulated before 40 hours was time and a quarter.

If it's before 40 hours, it's not overtime. By definition, it's not overtime until you've reached 40 hours in a week.

Under the law, you have to be paid for all time worked, plus overtime at the rate of time and a half for all hours exceeding 40 in a week. If this is not happening, your best recourse is to file a complaint with the state DOL.

And if you don't run off at the mouth about how you did it, you're going to do it, etc to your co workers, you can file such a complaint, and they will come in and investigate it, and will never tell your employer who did the complaining, so you don't lose your job for doing it. Technically, it is illegal for them to fire you for filing such a complaint, but in real time, it's just smarter to do it without telling them you're about to, or telling anyone else you have done it.
