Your comment is what would look bad on the credit report -- not an account in good standing that was closed.

emach1 -- I've have been trying to figure out if you are intentionally giving people bad advice because you want to hurt a stranger or if it is because you truly are as ignorant as it seems. If I give you the benefit of the doubt and suggest you go learn about these subject and then post, you will most likely come back with some kind of ad hominem attack. So please, stow the attacks on senior members and try to learn something about these subjects, then feel free to join us.

The more you post like you do, the more convinced I am that you are on this board to contradict the frustration you have against people who don't pay their bills. You are not here to give advice but to find fault in others.

If you were a TRUE professional, you would offer advice. Additionally, the moment you find a contradiction, you would seek it within yourself to PROFESSIONALLY correct what you feel is wrong advice.

In my profession, I cannot tell people who do not understand something that they are idiots or should not be speaking. Believe it or not, we're not all born knowing the answers to the bar exams like you and your clique. In fact, I would yield to those who learned through experience rather than reading some textbook and getting a degree.

On that note, I am not looking to join you or your clique of internet friends so I will not flex my post counts like you and the others do, as some sign of worthiness. In fact, I find it more troubling to see a board has allowed a few people to take over and attempt to intimidate others into 'joining' them in insulting people who owe money but are seeking advice.

I will continue to post my experiences. You can continue to waste your breath trying to discourage me. This is not an admissions application into Harvard nor is it a popularity contest. So I am not worried how you feel about me or my experiences. Quite frankly, it does not take a brain to be a debt collector so I have ZERO worry about sizing myself up against you or anyone else who may criticize my advice.

If you think your advice is so priceless that it deserves to be the ONLY post without question, I urge you to join a professional organization where you can be paid for your golden advice.

Until then, get used to the contradicting advice from others. There are many ways to go about things, especially when it comes to federal and state laws. You should know that, by the way. I have been through many things in my young 33 years of life and have some knowledge that I can extend to others in mitigating personal disaster. You are not the 'be all end all' when it comes to the answers to problems. I really hope you don't believe you are.

In my profession.....

What would that be?

All new members are encouraged to post their legal and professional designations, areas of expertise, and any other pertinent information. This would be a good time for you to provide that information to the board.

Having this information helps posters ascertain the accuracy of the level of information they receive. For instance, if the poster knows the person answering their question is a bankruptcy attorney, a tax attorney, a CPA, an experienced member of a profession, etc. it adds weight to the answer.

My experience is what causes me to offer something more than the ignorant "pay your bills" or "grow up" insults spawned by folks claiming themselves to be 'experts' on this board. Just because someone has 1000 posts does not make them experts. In fact, one may wonder why some of those posts are spent scolding folks who need help. In fact, it makes this place a battleground rather than a helpful forum.

When the clique on this board pick on people, it makes me chime in with some alternative point of view. That's just the approach this board needs if it wants to recover from the juvenile antics of the clique.

So to summarize, I have experienced some of what others have and know a thing or two about how to mitigate the issues. I also seek to learn about experiences from others. That is the community spirit this board needs rather than the cliques who do nothing but dazzle themselves, flauting post counts and lamenting when someone disagrees with them.

But, as DC said, you give wrong/bad advice, emach.
