My children's (two) father has custody of them, but they are residing with me for this school year and hopefully longer, the problem is, I am Canadian with a permanant residency in the US, my husband is a US citizen and is USAF and we don't know what to do about the kids.

Can I get permanant residency status for the kids without having custody?

Do I need to get permanant residency for them? (they are 9 and 5 years of age)

I am totally confused and have no clue as to what to do, so any help on this would be appreaciated.

Oh, one more thing to, I was told that if you are married to a US citizen that is military, the time you have to wait until you can apply for US citizenship is much shorter then it is normally is that true or no? If I do get my citizenship here in the US, does that mean I lose my Canadian citizenship or can I have both?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
