Hello. I have a 1 year old daughter. Her biological father wants nothing to do with her, is not on the birth certificate and has never seen her. He has a California court order to pay child support and is doing so at this time. I am positive he would give up all rights and acknowledgments regarding my daughter.
I am getting married and moving to Maryland with her. My husband to be would like to adopt her. What do we need to do to begin this process and what is the average cost for us to make this happen?

You'd be wise to see an attorney - though a step-parent adoption where all parties are in agreement is much easier, it's honestly not something you want to do yourselves, just to make sure everything is done right and it won't be a problem in the future.

You need to be married for at least 6 months (over a year is far better).
