Im 16 years old, And My girlfriend is 16 also.. We have a 7 month year old daughter.. Im in the Army Reserves (parents signed for me), I have my GED and im starting college and im a teenager WHO wants the resonsibilty of a daughter.. But My girlfriends (megan) mom wont let me over anymore. shes mad at megan because she wanted her to have an abortion but she didnt. so she thinks this is going to teach her a lesson.. WelL icant take this anymore. I really want to see her and my daughter.. which i know there isnt really anything to do by law to see Megan.. But i know there is for my daughter.. I once was told that.. Megan is the legal costodiing (cant spell that word) even though shes a minor and i can go pick up Alexia with her premission (which she would give me).. is this true??? But if it is i know her parents would try to do something when i came over. BEcayse they arready told me they will call the cops on me if i try?? i dont know what to do.. and i dont want to take them to court if i can just go pick her up when ever i want.. and im not waiting till im 18.. please somone help me?? :( i miss her.. she is my only reason of living

Well, for starters - have you been legally proven to be the father? Do you have court orders giving you visitation rights? That's really what you need. Talk to your parents about helping you find a family law attorney and file for your rights. That will make it more difficult for her parents to butt in.

Court may be your only option. Technically you and your g/f are her parents and your g/f's mother has no say over the baby. But she has threatened you if you try to see the baby so I suggest going to court and setting up support and a visitation schedule.

If your g/f will allow you to see your daughter there isn't much her mom and dad can do about it. They aren't the baby's parents.

However, they ARE your g/f parents. I take it that she's still living at home. If they say don't come on their property, then you'd better not step one foot on it. Sure, you can see your daughter, but you can't go on their property to do it. They "can" call the cops on your for trespassing or anything else they could come up with. Your best bet would be to have your g/f meet you somewhere sometime, OFF her parent's property.

No, not right. The library isn't equipped to help you file a motion of paternity or visitation.

Did he say law library? That would make more sense than the public library.

The library *may* be able to help you find the appropriate forms, or they should be able to help you find what books they have on the shelves about custody/visitation in OH. Would Mom's friend's husband be willing to look over the papers before they're filed? Or help you out with it on a reduced fee? Might be worth asking.

Oooooh, I missed that it was a legal library - sorry 'bout that. Generally, if they're not lawyers, they can't help you a great deal. But it would certainly be worth going there and getting all the info you can!

Good luck to you. You can do all of the paperwork yourself- I did. BUT (and thats a big one) do your homework!!!- this is a great place to start. Find out what the laws are in your state and make sure that you are ready for a battle. Most of the information you can get online, go to your county court house and ask them for the paperwork they should be able to get you what you need. Also try to have your parents call and talk to Megans parents, sometimes that can work, If they want to see your daughter they can express that. Good luck!
