What is the name of your state? KS

I am preparing a Name Change Minor Packet for someone, well ok, I am filling in the blanks, anyway, some of the forms included were:
Affidavit of Mailing
Affidavit of Publication
My question is: Are you required to do both? If you send the notice of hearing via snail mail, do you still have to put it in the newspaper? Reason being is, it will cost about $300 to put notice in paper.

Any help appreciated...

I would double check on that. I did a name change of a minor and it was only court costs about $80.00 and the newspaper ad cost only $20.00. I can't say for certain, but that seems really high.

Yeah, I sent the newspaper company the "unofficial" version of the notice of hearing, and they charge by the inch. So it totaled about $100 and must be posted 3 times so about 300 is what I was quoted by them, that is why I was wondering if it has to be put in the paper. The filing fees alone are $120. Crazy huh. Thanks though.

Yes and yes. Get quotes from other publications in your jurisdiction.
